According to reports, his common-law wife heard multiple gunshots at approximately 5:30 a.m. and discovered him lying outside their residence on Mc Donald Street, Curepe. In a desperate attempt to save his life, she and a neighbour rushed him to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt. Hope, where he was later pronounced dead on arrival.
